But cats are awesome, Mai! And totally deserving of their own thread!

It's still crazy considering your writing style is like, the equivalent of a third grader trying to advertise her kitty-kitty-mew-mew webpage >_>;.

Lol, I've left comments like that on his videos before. He barely understands any English, so I have to do that if I want a reply. xD

When I asked a Japanese friend over e-mail about my overly polite Japanese, she said something along the lines of, "Your Japanese certainly is polite, but I think that's a sensible way of studying. In Japan, we prefer to be polite. It's strict."

So I figure, ehh, might as well. I see a lot of Japanese commenters at YouTube doing the same. And I prefer politeness anyhow.

    Unless you were talking about the simplicity of my sentences, in which case I totally agree. >_>;;;

The simplicity? Fuck yeah, that's what I'm talking about! Oh, but anyway, it really is better to learn polite Japanese before anything else. I'm more of a NicoNico/2chan person, so I don't see polite Japanese being used too much <_<.

Where exactly should a noobie to the language geta good start on learning it.

Lol, I understand. Almost all of the Japanese I read/respond to is polite, so it works out well for me. But even then I can only do mostly introductory stuff.

We have a great thread filled with Japanese learning resources that you might be interested in:

    http://www.wireforums.com/forums/otaku-university/26822-japanese-writing-class-101-a.html

If you're serious about learning the language, you should get the hiragana and katakana down as soon as possible. That way you don't get dependent on romaji and can jump right into kanji when you reach a more advanced level.

Also, if you have questions you can feel free to ask me or Mai-sama for help. ^^

I've memorized a few kana but I'll have to up my exposure to the language if I hope to be effective. Know of anyways to do that?

    >> David. Srsly. START USING MY APARTMENT FOR VIDEO THREADS! D< EITHER THAT OR I'MMA START MOVING THEM!

Well, Phlynthe-kun...there are ways to up your exposure. Read manga that offers furigana (the characters that tell you how to read the kanji), watch Japanese drama shows with subtitles (even though the acting is exaggerated, you can sort of get a general understanding on how to speak Japanese and how honorifics are to be used, and/or find a person you can test your Japanese skills on. Of course, you still need to know how to read kana and get a handle on how the Japanese language is structured (it's subject-object-verb, not subject-object-verb or whatever >_>;). I'll be more than willing to help you practice, though I sort of suck right now. See, I kind of forgotten how to speak polite Japanese (called keigo). Currently, my speech pattern is that of a Shibuya loving school girl with a slight macho overtone (masculine/feminine terms will make the language a bit more difficult to learn).

Yeah, but this thread has already generated 10 replies and if I'd posted it in your apartment it would have been immediately forgotten. >_> Same with the other threads I've posted. 3 videos for a total of 24 replies. =D

Besides, I mostly wanted this thread to discuss the video in Japanese. xD

And besides, this is the cute cat thread. Where people can post whatever cat stuff they like!
  13. Tentei No Mai Bitch Pudding!

    um, subject-object-verb, not subject-verb-object.

    I knew something didn't sound right >_>;.
  14. Archangel Sabre Well-Known Member

lol. All you need to remember is that the verb in Japanese typically goes at the end of the clause or sentence.

For example, in English one would say, "Tom eats oranges."

But in Japanese, you would say, "Tom oranges eats."

You get used to it after a while.

Just because it's in here and not in mah apartment does not mean it would be ignored! ;-; MY APARTMENT IS AWESOME!

*stares at Nekoko-chan* Girl, just kick Sou-to's ass already >_>;. It'll make you feel much better!

But, I wouldn't want David to dislike me afterwards!
  18. Tentei No Mai Bitch Pudding!

    He's into S&M, so that shouldn't be a problem, homeslice >_>;.
