What's your religious affiliation?
I know this thread has been made a few times before, but in some instances beliefs change and evolve, and good discussions can be formed from it.
In any case, I have no religious affiliation. I don't believe in god, the afterlife or anything else that's spiritual. I think life arose through entirely natural processes, and I think we live in a universe completely indifferent to our dreams, desires or wishes. I think that if god does exist, that being would be so far beyond human understanding that our existence is completely irrelevant to them, and there's no way we could comprehend them even if it wasn't. I think that consciousness as we know it exists only because it provided us with an evolutionary advantage, and that once we die we shall completely cease to exist in any way, shape or form.
What are your thoughts?

I honestly don't know the answer to this thread, because I'm still in the undecided stage. I want to say I don't believe in God, but then again, what if I do and it turns out I'm wrong? I'd pretty much say that I'm agnostic, but I still have faith through the Episcopalian denomination, if you get what I'm saying.

I'm not too religious or anything. I don't go to church and I'm uncertain of hat I believe. That's about it.

QualiaSoup, great guy.
(btw, if the links are not allowed, please remove them. They do provide some look into this topic, though.)
Anyway, I believe that: there is no superior being (besides the Flying Spaghetti Monster, but...), in evolution, and that it all can be coincidence.

What if you believe in the wrong God? There are many Gods to choose from.

My views on religion have become so jaded I don't know what to believe. I wouldn't say I'm an atheist, just very bitter towards God, if one even exists, and bitter towards religion in general. I often joke about Christianity, in a rather insulting way, but I usually don't have much to say about other religions, so there may be something out there other than Christianity that's more suited to me. Regardless, I want to believe in an afterlife, or at least reincarnation, because the thought of pure nothingness AFTER death is more frightening than the thought of dying.

Oddly enough, we were just having this discussion in my AOL chatroom the other day. I told my friend Jensen that though I do want to believe in a God, I'm not sure that Christianity's God is the one that I want to believe in.

Exactly how I feel. I tell everyone that I'm scared of death, and it's really not death that I'm scared of. I'm just scared of, as you put it, pure nothingness.

That's funny, because I'm fairly certain that nothingness is the only afterlife that awaits me, but I'm not particularly afraid of. With nothingness, there's nothing to regret, or fear, or much of, well, anything. There's no reason to fear it because once we get there we aren't even going to realize it.
In any case, just about everyone knows what "nothingness" feels like; we all experience it every single time we go to sleep and don't dream. Dying would be kinda like that, except we never wake up. I don't see why it's such a scary thing though.

I suppose it's when someone gets so used to life, the thought of not living in any form can be scary. I think it comes naturally to some people, others it comes after certain experiences, and some people don't think much of it their entire lives.

This one is getting a bit off topic but in a good way. I'm going to start one on the afterlife. I believe in God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit but I'm also pretty such I'm going to hell or something. I'm trying to change a little more though. It's really hard though.

If I were to go by what I always put down every time I do some kind of application with that particular question...I usually go with Baptist. However, that's not really true. I believe in a "Higher Existence", but as far as religion goes I'm of no particular affiliation. In my opinion the bible is mostly fiction novel made by a butt-hurt, stingy, bi-polar bastard who's wife cheated on him with the huge-tittied slave girl, so for the most part Christianity is more or less not my style. Oh, but I'm not against religion or anything if the people involved aren't idiots and martyrs about it >__>.
Basically, for now my religious affiliation involves witches since I dumped Haruhiism for the new model.

I believe in God and all but I don't go to church. I read the bible and pray every so often and I believe that God has plans for us all in life. I just personally don't want to be around people or anything like that.
