So, I was checking up on the latest RPG news on some of my favorite sites and guess what I discover? Information regarding a sequel to the marvelous Persona series. I had literally screamed for about two minutes after reading the article.



Of course, I'm going take this information with a grain of salt since this could simply be a prank from some random gamer, but I've heard that Bloomberg is pretty reliable. P.S. I wonder why P4 would be released on the PS2 instead of the PS3? Not that I'm complaining or anything. The PS3 isn't very attractive to RPG gamers just yet, so maybe the majority of them are still playing their PS2s? I dunno. Whatever, we still need a U.S. release of Persona 3: Fes for goodness sake.

I certainly hope it isn't a prank though, and as I don't have a PS3, I would certainly appreciate this last minute console death goodness.

Also, the Etrian Odyssey title sounds very good-leave it to Atlus to actually still offer challenging games like Persona and Etrian.

Etrian Odyssey is good in my opinion. It's old-school and allows you to work your imagination a bit. Am I the only one who enjoys creating a party and giving the characters personalities?

Should I play the first 2 Personas before playing 3?

Oh, and I hate how people are already jacking up the prices on Persona 3 based on "rarity". Auction sites like eBay and Amazon are probably the only reason some games become hard to find.

I don't think it matters if you play any of the Persona games before you play Persona 3. Honestly, I haven't beaten Persona 2 yet and I started Persona 3 last night. Ma-ya, I love how they summon their personas, by the way. Wes told me that the Kmart was the only place he saw it at. And he got the only copy they had. I think in my area that no one plays this kind of game. But, it is funny, how high they jack up the prices. SMTN was hard for me to find, and I wasn't willing to pay the $65+ it was at on eBay at the time. I lucked out and got a pre-played copy for $40 at a Blockbuster.

Jin, you do NOT need to have played Persona, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, or Persona 2: Eternal Punishment to understand the plot or get used to the controls. Persona 3 is basically a stand alone sequel, but there are a few references from the other Persona titles. Also, is it becoming a rarity already!? I haven't even noticed. Just last week there were still a few copies left in my nearest Gamestop. Don't pay over 50 bucks for the game unless you're desperate, okay?


Rizu, that's the number one problem I have with Atlus- their games become hard to find in a matter of weeks. Can't they just up the number of copies they produce!? Also, using an Evoker to summon personae is indeed cool, but it is a bit impractical. I mean, why use a gun when you can simply raise your hand and say "PERSONA!". Oy, I miss the days when all you need to do is be in a spot and trouble to unleash your hidden self. I also miss Philemon.

I reckon the Evoker is there to symbolize something. Though I'm not entirely sure what. I think Atlus is still under the impression that many people won't play their games. It's sad really... I have enjoyed every Atlus game I have played. DemiKids was fun. >.> I didn't get far due to a few computer restores, if you catch my drift. Those games are even hard to find. Of course, eBay and Amazon is the breeding ground for people who buy the games cheap so they can sell them for $75 a piece. I saw SMTN for $225 not too long ago on eBay. Made me glad I got my copy when I did.

So far, I think the evoker symbolizes the will to fight for yourself and for the sake of others even if you end up dying. That's short version of my thoughts on the evoker.


P.S. Shin Megami Tensei III/Nocturne for 225 DOLLARS!? That's almost as much as the deluxe edition of SMTN. Oy, that's harsh! HARSH, I SAY.

It was a Japan thing, but the special edition came with an incense burner that was shaped like the terminal in SMTN and vials of incense similar to the stat increases found in the games (agi incense, etc.).

I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad, since it will probably hurt the chances of Persona 4 coming to america now.

I don't think it will hurt Persona 4's chances. I'm sure they'll release like 1000 copies and then get to laughing as we start a war over getting it.

Also, I lol'd on Persona 3 when you go to play the Innocent Sin Online. Maya and Tatsuya, ftw!

We have finally received some concrete information on the latest Persona title, and it sounds quite the ambitious game. To clear up a few things, P4 will definitely be released for the PS2, but that shouldn't stop our chance in having the game shipped over to our side of the Earth! But first, let's take a look at the article.

My, my! Will you take a look at that. Multiple endings, murders, and weather effects? The Persona series are surely evolving! Aren't you all excited over this? I know I am! I can't wait to get some tidbits on the story and to see how much of a fox Yousuke Hanamura is (actually, I'm lying. There's some scans available, so I already know what he looks like. He's totally not Junpei that's for sure)! Well, that concludes the update for the thread.

It's me again! For today's update we have...a trailer!

Okay, I'm planning on adding more information to the P4 thread, but for now let's discuss the trailer that is available. For the most part, P4 seems to be a HUGE expansion of P3 (also notice how P4's trailer is super long, just like P3's), but personally I think it's okay just long as the dungeons are more varied (I like dungeon crawlers, so I did just fine with Tartaros, but I honestly think that Tartaros was the least favored aspect of P3 overall).

Also, take notice of the main characters' glasses. Are they the new Evokers or are they for locating shadows, dungeons, clues, and so forth? Considering that P4 is turning out to be a murder mystery, the glasses are a nice touch either way. And take notice of the new school uniforms, too. Very old school <3.

Ok, Ma-ya... I feel the need to pop in and share the goodies I know of Persona 4. There is a murder everytime the fog rolls in, the game is at like 80% completion, and Igor isn't in the Velvet Room for this game. He's in style with the Velvet Limo! Also, it's set 2 years after P3 and Elizabeth isn't seen in any of the videos I saw. What a bummer too. Though the chick replacing her looks cool. Also, this game is set in the countryside and they don't use Evokers. And I am not 100% sure on this but I think they will summon personas like Elizabeth does when you battle her in P3. Or maybe the glasses do the summoning.

I'm looking forward to playing this. I loved Persona 3, and I liked what I played of Persona 2. I hope it's as good as those two.

Er, Rizu-neesama pretty much covered what I wanted to discuss. However, the one who is replacing Elizabeth is Margarette. Oh, and there is some other information out there, too, but I'll a wait a bit just in case anyone else would like to contribute! After all, I'm always happy to receive a helping hand!

One other thing. I received an e-mail (Atlus Newsletter) and apparently, Atlus is going to be announcing something cool next week. Could it be a NA release of P4? Only one can hope! Also, keep in mind that P4 will have easy, normal, and hard difficulty settings that will be immediately available and a deeper social link system (basically, more events and deeper, more realistic conversations). I would love to talk about the trailer's contents, I need for at least a few people to watch it, so I won't spoil anything. All I will say is...more Engrish songs, better anime cutscenes, and superb music!



P.S. Oh, screw it. ONE MORE THING. The fourth playable character in P4 (who you get to see a lot of in the trailer) is a high school student named Yukiko Tenjou (I think it's Tenjou. I couldn't read the last character of her last name well, so I'm guessing). Yukiko seems to be rather interesting with her kimono and all, so she may turn out to be similar to Mitsuru in terms of elegance and financial power. Also, I believe she is at least an acquaintance of Chie Satonoka since she introduces her to Shujinkou (Japanese for Protagonist/Main Character).

So, yeah, it's me again! Updating like crazy!

Persona 4 Official Website

The site is still in its infancy, so not much has been posted. However, notice how groovy the weather effects? They change every time you visit!
Now, let me introduce some new-but-not-so-new information! If you've watched the trailer already you might have thought "what the hell is up with the televisions!?". You see, the TV seems to be P4's mode of transportation to the world of demons (sort of like how Tartaros was P3's homebase for hellish fighting). Chie Satonaka (my favorite character so far) has told the main character about something called Mayonaka Terebi (Midnight Television). You see, foul weather causes the TV to become static-y and once the clock reaches midnight, well...the TV becomes an entrance to the realm where shadows freely roam. This TOTALLY reminds me of P2:Tsumi+Batsu! Yellow scenery, A murder mystery, and weird TVs! Wow!

So, that's it for now. Once the website is updated I will be sure to either translate a few things or find some translations. Ciao ne!
