o-o; I think we have a P3 thread already, so you could've said that over there, but it doesn't really matter! No problems!

Okay, so I'm back for the latest update. P4's website has received some new information and I'm here to let you guys know what it is. After that, I will make quick comments on some of the characters.

First, let's discuss the update on the Character section. Main, Chie, and Yousuke are now available for viewing, including their personas and video clips. Now remember, my translations/transliterations are pretty...erm, primitive, but I will try to be as accurate as possible.

Main Character-
The Protagonist of Persona 4. He is moving in with his mother's relatives to the countryside (and will therefore depend on them). Because of the door to the strange world has opened, the protagonist's persona abilities are awakened.

The protagonist and his comrades are trying to open the door to the strange world while chasing to solve the murder case's mystery. The key to unlocking the door is the power of their hearts, "Persona".

Chie Satonaka-
The main character's classmate. She's a graduate (from elementary school to middle school) from Inehane City. (I think the sentence is implying that she is from Inehane, is just hanging around for school). Chie's a very normal girl (meaning, she's super ordinary which has got to be a lie in my opinion. Damn modesty!). She who's heart is holding darkness, what is the persona user's capacity (or something like that. This sentence is twinged with mystery).

Chie's kungfu mania. Will the day come when her self-taught footwork (basically, kicking) are put to the test?

Yousuke Hanamura-
A classmate who is similar to the main character in that he commutes to Yasogami High School. Yousuke is a cheerful person who is good at judging situations, but doesn't have a good number of friends (reading the air, or something). He awakens as a persona user, but the details on that are...(whoohoo, more suspense!)

Yousuke's and Main's first meeting. What kind of tale will be come about from them (AH, seriously, I suck at translating stuff. I understood the sentence, but I can't seem to put it into English correctly >_>).

If you want me to translate the the dialogue in the videos, just let me know! Chie's video was pretty damn cool.

Next are the keywords! Let's go for it!

Keyword 1: Murder Case
It could be said that Inehane City is visited by freaky shadows that take the form of murder cases (okay, this can't be right, but that's how I read it >__<.

The partner who the group (Main and gang) ought to confront: who in the hell is he? (once again, I'm not entirely sure on this)

When the mist was lifted, a corpse was found in town. The motive, the method of killing, and everything else is unknown. There is only one similarity that can be found...

Keyword 2: Yasogami High School.
Within the city there is a high school in which the main character commutes to: Yasogami High School (the kanji means 80 Gods >_>). The school is where many encounters will be had and experienced (or something to that effect).

(The second portion of the text is pretty normal. Basically, the hero will have many encounters with the inhabitants of Inehane City. Also, I should probably say town instead of city.)

So, with that out of the way I would love to discuss a few of the characters. The main character will more than likely have the ability to switch between weapons, but I think his starting weapon is just a blargh-ish sword of some kind. You can do whatever you want with him like you could with Minato (the main character of P3). Chie, our Velma lookalike with the violent streak uses her feet in battles, so I expect her weapon upgrades to be shoes or whatever. Yousuke uses dual weapons such as eskrimas, sais, and the like. And finally, Yukiko will probably be a fan freak during a fight (which kind of suits her from what I can tell. I REALLY expect Yukiko to receive a lot of attention in and out of P4, because during the trailer you can see her chatting it up on TV as though she was a star or at least, very popular. Cute, too. So, far there are three other playable characters that can be seen: The Kuma Robot (at least, I think he's a robot. I consider him to be a mixture of Aegis and Koromaru), The Raidou looking guy (he uses guns, apparently. Must be a first year), and the other guy whom I will call Wave-kun due to his unruly hair (either it's an axe or a briefcase he's wielding). So, that's what I kind of wanted to say! Hello, everyone! I'm here to make a couple of updates to the thread!

Yukiko, the darling young woman with the long Black hair. Remember how I wasn't sure about her last name, so I translated it as Tenjou? Well, I wasn't wrong, but not quite right either. Let me explain: kanji usually has a number of readings that can change the way the kanji is read. So, in short- I'm not too sure if it's Tenjou. Her name means "Heaven's Castle", but another way of reading the kanji can be Amagi (I was checking out the board in Gamefaqs and that's when I realized the potential for being wrong here). So, until I can get a really good confirmation on Yukiko's last name I will be changing Tenjou's last name to Amagi just in case. Okay, it's probably not a big deal, but I'd hate to give you guys any misinformation.

The P4 Official Website has received an update in the Keyword section! The update involves the mysterious Mayonaka Terebi or Midnight TV. Here's what the description says:

The Creepy Legend known as Midnight TV where truth and rumors which spread out and converge into one another (or something like that). The partner of fate that can be seen by the Midnight TV-could it possibly be real or maybe it is...?

One last bit. Let's discuss the glasses for a second. As of right now we are still not sure on the nature of the glasses that the heroes wear inside the Midnight TV. I think the glasses enable the heroes to burn or crush the cards they carry in order to summon their personae. Alternatively, I also think the glasses enable the heroes to differentiate between truth or fiction- like making distinctions between shadows or whatever. Also, I really do believe that P4 bear a ton of similarities with Persona 1 and Persona 2: Innocent Sin. Shadow Yousuke, oh my!

Not much has been added to the official website, even though RPGamer did put up a couple of magazine shots. I think what I'll do is simply cover the main characters' personae and possible Arcana assignments. So, let's go!

Main Character-Izanagi
I suspect that the MC's arcana will be Fool, but if you take a look behind the mythology involving Izanagi you might find something interesting. Izanagi is from Japanese mythology and you can find information about him over here cPanel®.

Chie Satonaka <3-Tomoe
It's possible that her arcana could be The Sun or The Wheel of Fortune. As for her persona, Tomoe is a Japanese Symbol that can hold several meanings and uses (sort of like the Cross). Information is here -> Tomoe.

Yousuke Hanamura - Jiraiya
He is totally the Magician arcana. Jiraiya is a name that most people will probably recognize. Actually, it's kind of cute, but instead of writing all about the ninja bastard here I'll just post the link >_> Jiraiya - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yukiko Amagi - Konohana Sakuya
Yukiko is PRETTY DAMN popular which kind of ticks me off since I believe Chie's the one who should garner all the love and praise. Anyway, due to her visible nature and her persona, she has got to be of The Lovers arcana. GOTTA BE. Just like the other personae, Sakuya is from Japanese mythology. Over here, please -> Sakuya

And if you're curious, Nanako Doujima's (everyone favorite loli) arcana is Justice. There's an obvious theme in regards to the main characters personae, but I think it is interesting that instead of using Greek or Roman mythology the main characters personae are directly from Japanese lore. It must be due to the rural location of P4. Anyway, ciao for now!

Oops, I wonder how I missed this, but...on the website there's an update on Yukiko Amagi, so I'm going to post the translations here.

Yukiko Amagi-
Yukiko is the busy daughter of the owner of the Veteran Business Hotel (basically, high class stuff. Also, apparently she works at the hotel as some kind of heir-in-training or whatever). Yukiko awakens to her persona around the same time as the protagonist, but what caused the even to occur in the first place (transliterating is a bitch).

The high class home of Yukiko-the Shinise Ryokan. It could be said that there is darkness within her heart (this kind of remind me of Eikichi from P2:Tsumi because he had some grief about inheriting his father's sushi restaurant).

Finally, I don't have to do much translating this time! Update time, people!

There were some relatively new scans of P4 that I was going to translate (actually, I was kind of half way done since the kanji had furigana), but low and behold someone has already beaten me to the punchline ages ago! So, here's the link!

So, we now know that the fifth playable character is available for questioning and his name is Kuma! Kuma will serve as P4's Fuuka in the sense that he'll act as support during battles. His persona is Kintokidouji.

Rawr, everyone! Even though I get the feeling I'm the only one who cares for this information I have yet another update to make! It's sort of big, not really. First of all, let's start with the technical information! On P4's official website there's a new video available for download which I will post in a few. Also included in the link is a bit of extra info on the weather function of the website and some info on Kuma and Mizuru Katagiri (remember, this is not her official name. It's just something I came up with since I like her so much <3).

Okay, so let's see what else is out there for us to discuss. Oh! Atlus released some information based from an interview from the director, Katsura Hashino! For starters, there will be a small connection between P4, P3, and the Persona ~Trinity Soul~ anime though it'll probably be fan bait (still, it'll be canon more than likely!). There are some more tidbits involving gameplay and social links, so I'll allow you all to read all about them in this link!

And here's another thing! There's information available on the blonde metal guy from the trailer. His name is Kanji Tatsumi and he seems to be quite the tough guy. He's always getting into fights and man, is he ever dressed hardcore! Look at all those piercings! Also, his persona is Take-Mikazuchi (I think he's the God of Thunder in Japanese Mythos. Could this mean that Kanji'll be tossing Zio spells?). Kanji's weapon seems to involve heavy objects such as folding chairs (...what!?). However, the BIGGEST bit of info on him is something that really makes me all...drooly. It seems that Kanji might be playing for the Yaoi time in terms of sexual orientation. Gay! And he's pretty darn gorgeous (well, manly, but he's still handsome) and considering the nature of social links...oooooh, I'm hoping for the best! Here's some scans!

One last thing. It appears that Persona 4 really might come out before 2008 is over and done with. Now, unless the translating and the like is being take care of alongside the development of P4 I'm not sure if it'll come out so quickly. It CAN happen, though since P4 will be released around mid-late July. I hope so, though. Also, I'm pretty sure that Mizuru won't be participating in battles like Kuma can. She'll definitely serve as our analyzer (for the love of God let her English VA be better than Fuuka's. SERIOUSLY). Well, that's all for now, so stay tuned!

There's a plethora of information here, and I'm glad you've supplied it in this eloquent format. I still haven't played the first two or the third in the series, however, so a lot of this is lost to me.

The people running PSN should SERIOUSLY consider porting both of the original titles to PS3/PSP format for the standard $6 - $10. If Atlus hasn't proposed this yet, then they're in need of a marketing manager.

Well...though it would be beneficial to have good knowledge base of the Persona series, it's not really overly necessary for Persona 4. 'course since there are similiarities between P3 and P4, with information coming in from the anime Persona ~trinity soul~, it'll probably be useful to know a few things P3 and PTS before diving in. Of course, please feel free to ask ANY questions regarding the series. I'll be more than happy to help answer them! Well, let me see...I hear that the Persona title for the PSP is still in the works, but I'm still not sure if it's going to be a port of Persona 1 (and my God, please let America acquire it WITHOUT the localization) and another Persona or Shin Megami Tensei title (I forget) for the PS3. However, I also demand that Atlus work some porting magic for the PSX era Persona titles in the near future. It's impossible to find Persona 1 (though, I can't really recommend the localized version for purists, because ew. I can go on and on about the sins of the localization) without spending super cash, we never did get Persona 2: Innocent Sin (even though that might not be a huge deal for those that are into emulating since there's an English translation currently in progress ), and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is a little difficult to find.

You've explained to me about the localization, before, and I believe that a PSN release could rectify that. Afterall, they did "update" the dialogue for SotN in The Dracula X Chronicles, so I don't see why they couldn't translate the script for the Persona titles more accurately.

Hello again, everyone!

I have some news for you all in regards to Mizuru Katagiri! First of all her true name is Rise Kujigawa, so from now on I'm going to be very correct with her. Rise (pronounced Ree-seh. Think "we say", but with an R sound) will definitely replace Kuma as analyze sometime in the game. The story on her is that she's quite the famous pop idol up until she decided to quit her job and enroll in Yasogami High as a first year student (I figured as such since in Rush video she says "senpai", but of course it could be the case that she's a second year and the rest of the main characters are seniors) for no clear reason (but we can always speculate! Is she running away from a dark secret? Is she afraid of becoming the Japanese version of Britney Spears? Who knows!). Rise's persona is Himiko, but the persona design is...rather creepy.

We now have a good look at the girl's school uniform. Isn't it super trendy? Very reminiscent of Seven Sister's. Also, the scan has information on what appears to be two social-link capable characters. Yumi Ozawa of Theatre Club (the tall one) and Ayane Matsunaga of Band Club (the short, loli-looking one).

Hi, everyone! It's been awhile and the news is probably old as dirt, but whatever. First of all, let me introduce you to the final announced PC of Persona 4, Naoto Shirogane!

Naoto Shirogane is the Raidou-esque, revolver wielding "Detective Prince" who is a famous detective. He's younger than the main character, so I'm pretty sure he's a first year (or second year) at Yasogami High. His persona is Sukona Hikona.

Now then, there is a lot to discuss (and trust me, there's a lot), so I will direct you all to the places where you can take your time and read the glorious info (yes, I'm going to rely on Yuuenchi again since his info is very useful). Here goes!
