More than almost anything else, it pisses me the fuck off when members leave.

Very rarely do they leave on good terms, and it's really a freaking shame.

When I find myself agreeing with their reasoning, it gets even worse.

While members will always leave, it pisses me the fuck off when a good person decides to call it a day here.

I am not sure how much longer I can really stand to hang around myself, as my enjoyment continues to dwindle.

Who is really to blame for our problems? I would like to think it wasn't the staffs fault, since everyone seems to have their heart in the right place.

Are we all just out of ideas for good topics?

I frankly don't know what the problem is, but somethings seriously been amiss for a while now.

There are very few members that I really feel like I have any sort of connection with anymore.

Life and forums move forward, but I can't help but miss the good times that came before.

Yeh, this place was much funner when I first joined. The entire atmosphere of the place has changed. It feels like WF has lost a lot of flavor.

I post here more out of habit than anything else, really.

Otherwise I don't particularly care when members leave, it always happens here and at all forums. To expect absolute stagnation is unrealistic.

I find it interesting that this place really didn't start to become alive again until I started posting on the forums after my three month hiatus.

I don't think there's really that much of a problem except that a lot of people seem to get off topic and either start bitching towards each other, or they just completely go off topic and start talking about something else.

Granted that a thread can't stay on topic for too long, but if the community is quite interested, then it's going to stay on topic. What happens is that one thread is made where half the community likes it, but the other half doesn't, and so on and so forth.

I do agree with David in the fact that people leave forums all the time. Then they'll usually go through a "dead" period, and then all of a sudden the forum will come back to life. It's what happens. Most of the time you just have to be patient and wait for it to come back to life. Granted, not a lot of people are willing to stick around, which is why so many forums go through so many admin changes. But the thing I've noticed is that if you want the forums to do well, you have to help. You can't just sit there and bitch about it and do nothing, which I've noticed a lot of the people who left have done. They just bitch that nothing's happening. But do they help? No. If you want a forum to succeed, you gotta help it succeed. Otherwise, it'll just die. All bitching does is just make you seem like an asshole. Especially if you bitch about how "boring" the forums is, yet come here every day and do nothing but sit there and complain about it. If it's so effing boring, then why come?

But that's just my opinion though.

I wouldn't be too worried about that happening. It's honestly surprising how much this forum has managed to survive through. We once banned like two-thirds of the active member base and didn't die. XD

I'd say the only time we were close to shutting down was around June of 2005, when the board actually was closed for about two weeks.

But look, forums are kind of like life, right? At least a part of it. It moves on, shit changes and you can't do nothing about it. People come and go, and of course not everyone's going to find their place, and so inevetibly leave. It may be sad and frustrating, but we shouldn't worry about it too much.

I mean, Chris doesn't hate anybody-he just doesn't seem to find a reason to stay. Who the fuck knows what's up with Lanza, but there is real life to deal with, and I doubt that he's asinine enough to leave because of those dumb reasons he mentioned, and I know you all hate Wiki, but it's all your fucking fault that he left.

Grave, I find it a bit saddening that you're making a thread about how this pisses you off, yet every time someone makes a departure thread, you always go into it and you're like-this place sucks and I fucking hate you all!

I don't have a problem with that if that's how you feel, but remember that for people to stay, those of us still here also have a part to play in this.

But also it isn't a big deal either. It's a forum, and we should see it as entertainment on the side-for me it helps take away the day's stress, and if something on here actually nags me too much, I don't bother with it. I have other things to worry about. It can't take first place in your list of priorities.

So I say cherish whatever moments you enjoyed best, and enjoy the site for what it has. If it really isn't good, then there are ways to improve it, besides all of us whining. :/

This forum IS surprisingly resilient, regardless of how much the quality keeps dropping.

Sometimes it almost seems like a race to the bottom for this place.

I stay out of habbit, and because good things occasionally do happen.

I hate this place, but I also love it too I guess.

Notice: In 2006 we went through a very dead point 4 or 5 times. We BARELY pulled out the fifth one leading into 07's May. Then in June of 07, we boomed again. This would be our 6th dead point since I've been here. Sucks yeah, but what can ya do? Wait it out is all. I know I'm staying.

But yeah, this place seems to be getting more and more negative. People are always whining about something. I say suck it up, no place will be perfect. Ever. Just gotta make the most of what you have.

Also, just to clarify:

I have never seriously claimed to hate everyone here, but there are some members I don't care for, and quite a few that i'm pretty indifferent about.

Also the problems I have with this place are not easily fixed, and they absolutely cannot be fixed by me alone. They require dedication and teamwork, and any prior attempts I have made on that front have been complete failures. This is just not worth me stressing out over anymore. Everyone is fully free to chip in and help further the site, but i'm not going to kill myself again trying to turn things around.

I don't plan on leaving either. But if I do decide to go, it's not going to be for the same reasons everyone else seemed to stated in their "good-bye" threads. The people here, for the most part, are great and I like you all. Sure, you might have your nights but then again, don't we all? And the whole "lack of good posts" crap is another lame excuse to leave. But I digress, and refuse to repeat how I feel when I posted that once so... Until that fateful day, you guys are stuck with me.
