You all have them, you know it. So post them here. I'm giving my most recent one.
Oh and Mai, I know you're playing Jeanne D'Arc, so you might not want to read this actually...or anyone else who might be playing it.
And see, I even gave it a title.
Damn You, Lutheeeeeer!!! *Shakes fist.*
So I was playing Jeanne D'Arc on Sunday, doing the optional stuff in the post game option. Now then, like every RPG (Even though this is an SRPG.) they always have a colosseum or tournament thing, and this one is no exception. So in this optional tournament version, you must fight ten battles in a row, and not die, nor can you save.
I was doing it, and the first few fights were easy, they got harder near the end, and in the ninth battle, I just about died. But I made it, to the last.
So then, this fucker named Luther, an old hero from the plot wants to test me as a warrior. I got rid of the dragons and wizard that were helping him, but HE completely destroyed me. I was TEN levels higher then him!
Plus, he has a skill called HP Recovery III, which gives him back 440 HP each round-and he has over 1490 HP in all. Funny, because, ten levels higher, two of my characters have the SAME HP Recovery skill, and I only get back like 200 HP. And more then half the time, he would counter my attacks. I couldn't even DO approximately 300 HP to him in one round, so every round, he was always starting off with a fresh supply of HP. And doing like 300 HP of damage to me.
Needless to say, he took care of me. I gained all these levels, money and found all these items and skills in the fights before that, and lost them ALL because of some bastard legendary hero-oh and to make things worse? He carries his sword over his shoulder, he doesn't SWING it at you, he just kind of like, lazily lifts it up a bit and lets it drop on you. How insulting. Imagine the damage he could do if he actually TRIED.
Anyways, four hours wasted, down the drain. I was on level 80 here, wtf?!

Anyways, your turn!
Oh-ho-man! That must have SUCKED!!!! I remember having similar stories like that in FF6 a long time ago, WAY back in the day!
Well, for a more concrete example:
I had been playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for approximately 2 hours. Now, mind you, if you have ever played this game, you will know just how fuckin' hard this game is (I WAS ON FUCKIN' EASY FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!).
For starters, the game tries to make things "realistic" by making it extreeeemely easy to die. And then secondly wherever you are, you're more than likely taking natural damage from the nuclear waste that's riddling this place. It's really bad...not so much the game itself, but...whatever.
Anyway, two hours of this game, without saving (NO AUTO SAVE!? WTF WERE THEY THINKING?!) and I come across a couple of dudes and I get shot multiple times. Ugh...so, this is all happening underground with no lights or anything. I had no flashlight to assist me, so these dudes can clearly see me 'cause they're blasting me away.... So, with the bullets firing at me and the nuclear damage eating my health bar away, it was safe to say I was FUCKED.
After I had died, I had to start aaaaall over at the beginning...since then, I haven't played it.
Hmm, well, there was this one time when I was fighting Freya on Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, for like 3 hours. She has like 60,000,000 HP on 4D mode, I'm hitting like... 70K a hit right. I get her down to low health at like... 2 hours 45 minutes into it. She starts whoring an attack called Ether Strike. A field filling attack, no way to dodge unless you have stun bombs and/or Shielding Devices. I ran out... 3 hour mark hits, no items left. She goes to do Ether Strike I hit her out of it, I think I got it won now but I get paralized by some cheap ass attack and get Ether Struck in the face. Dead.
THREE HOURS OF MY LIFE WASTED!!!!!
I cried...

Lordy, I never got that far into Star Ocean: TTEOT but my boyfriend, Wes... He is one of those guys that likes to get 100% and he was fighting her... I can remember all the hours he'd spend cussing her out. ^.^ It was fun to watch. As for me, I was playing Star Ocean and had like 6 hours on it without saving... And silly me was playing it during a thunder storm... Hopefully you know where this is going... I didn't touch the game for like 6 months after that. Other than that, there was my saved games of FFXII, THP8, and Persona 2 that were saved onto that fancy thing called a PS3... And we had to sell it (food>PS3 ) It blew...

...I wouldn't even dream of even trying to play through 4D mode. I wouldn't even challenge Freya in the normal difficulty. Ether Strike is ridiculous.
Lol! I know right?
I beat her in Earth, Galaxy, Universal, and 4D modes. I don't have all 300 battle trophies, because some of the things you have to do are near impossible. YOU CANNOT BEAT FREYA ON UNIVERSAL OR 4D MODE WITHOUT TAKING DAMAGE!!! One way or the other, you will take damage from Ether Strike.

A scary gaming story by Wiki.
I was playing final fantasy, and I made it to level 5, when suddenly, the game turned off{[ DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!}] I did non know what to do, I could not move for my legs were frozen solid. next think I know, my game system is on fire. Then I woke up.
Tales of Destiny has this optional dungeon, The Tower of Druaga, which is indeed, an eye wink to Namco's old roots.
Anyways, here's what this dungeon includes;
-Sixty floors
-You can't save anywhere.
-The HARDEST MONSTERS IN THE GAME.
-Treasure to find on every floor-providing that you clear the goddamned puzzle on every floor.
You don't have to get any of the treasures; you can just go from one door to the other and unto the next floor. If you want the treasure, you get in more fights. Otherwise, just find the key to the door and go. And I'm telling you guys, every fucking encounter in this is like this fight to the death. I eventually got to the top-dragging my entrails behind me, so to speak.
BUT.
Yes, but. FOUR FLOORS will require that you obtain the treasure, that's four different kinds of rods. If you don't have them, you can't damage the boss on the sixtieth floor whatsoever. So you see where this is going? I got lazy halfway through, and only had two canes. I didn't know about it though.
So hours wasted, I get to the top, after fighting so many monsters and almost dying every time, just to get killed by the last boss on top because I couldn't do anything to harm him because I didn't get all the rods. I was like, fuck.
What's insulting is that I HAD to let him kill me, when I found out nothing was going to work.
A whole afternoon wasted-I was invited to a party before playing. I should have done that instead.
Eventually I redid the tower, with the four canes and completed it...apparently, going through it a second time gets you different treasure. To that, if I had a penis I'd be like fucking suck my dick!
But I'll settle for kiss my ass instead, I'm never doing that again.
One time I was playing Final Fantasy VII, and I was pretty much trying to get one of those really really good files, and my sister bumped my playstation and it turned off in the middle of saving. Bing, corrupt file.
I only have one story to contribute: I was playing FF II (the US II it is) on the S-Nes and since I have an European S-Nes and the game was US I had to use an adapter to play it. You know the kind of adapter you have to insert the US game and a random PAL game to make it work. Anyway, never had any problem with using the adapter so far and everything was going smoth. I was about 12 hours into the game or something and out of the blue the game just froze. The music was still hearable but the game didn't move and pushing the buttons didn't help either. So I had to turn the game of, well not much of a loss I thought at first, especially after seeing that the game was runing again when turning the power on. Then I've notived my save was gone... <_< I did play the game again and 12 hours is not that much considering some other horror stories posted here. I was still angry since I'm not investing that much time into gaming...
A recent thing that happens is that my GC memory card seems to have a problem with the FF Chronicles games. Allready asked for advice in a recnt thread so no need to post the story again. Just wanna say that it sucks so much that I can't play the game right now!
