Does anyone do speed runs or try and set world records for different games?

And by the way, speed runs / records without cheating.

Nah. I've tried to beat games quickly before for fun, but there's no way I'd be willing to put forth the time or effort into trying to achieve a world record of it. Even on games I know extremely well; I've seen what people go through to beat a game like Final Fantasy VII in under 8 hours, and it doesn't look fun.

I actully beat a world record in a game called Bubbles. The thing is that if you want to get into the record books you need an official witness and have to jump through a bunch of other hoops.

What version of Bubbles was it? Arcade or M.A.M.E.?

The current arcade record is 1,566,960, and the current M.A.M.E. record is 468,170

Arcade Settings

• Variation: Points [Default]

What you need is either a Twin Galaxies referee with you, or you can submit it by video. See the Twin Galaxies Recording FAQ. It's not that complex really...just tedious to get started. I'm in the same boat. I still need a camcorder. I have a VCR to do it, but I'd need a ton of tapes...and that'd be too costly.

I played it on Sega Saturn, my score started with a 6 either million or billion dunno. It was a long time ago. I went to tell my family and they cut it off while I ate breakfast. It took me a while. I don't remember what the settings were but I could still give it a go.

I don't have the patience (or resources) to do something like that. I just play games for fun, not to see how fast I can do it or how high I can score.
